| The next ten structures (MV21-03 to -12)
mark out measured distances for ships undergoing speed trials, usually before acceptance by the purchaser. They form three sets of
transits, or lights-in-line, all on a bearing of 232°T, and the three transits are one nautical mile apart. The north and south transits each
comprise three structures, and the centre one four.
Each structure is a metal post about 10m high, with two fixed white lights, one at the top of the post and one about 2m below. White triangles help the observer on the ship to be certain of when the transit is passed. All the lights were "temporarily" extinguished in 2015, and in June 2016 had not so far been relit. | ||
