CharlestownEstablished 1866
Octagonal wooden tower 4m once clad with panels but now merely a frame; open doorway in one face. Wide shelf across width of tower about 3m above the ground, doubtless the lantern support. Now roofless. Rusty cast-iron cabinet bolted to outside of frame.
Described in Admiralty list of 1930 as
  "red tower, white dome, 15 feet" (4.5m)
We know this was a lighthouse because Imray's chart says so!
